As an artist and designer Ross' practice creates hosting spaces that promote play, exploration and experimentation, with a firm belief that creativity is an energy we must all feed. He looks to capture impulse and promote distinct perspectives through playful, collaborative methods.
Engaging communities through design and play, Ross works with typography, table tennis, colour, wood-work, pickling & fermenting, creative writing and mono-printing techniques.
Based in Sheffield Ross collaborates with groups and projects across the country, currently working with; Not A Sausage on food and ceremony based work. Assembly on environment and community projects.
Alongside all these self-initiated projects Ross has worked with agencies across London including; Futerra, Buro Creative, The Future Laboratory, Strudel, Calling Brands, and Hato Press.
Clients have included; AAA, ArtsCatalyst, ANDOR Gallery, Avant Gardening, British Design Council, Biscuit Factory (workspace), Camberwell Space, COMMON BOOK(S), Chelsea College of Art, Ellis Scott, Pangea Sculptors Centre, Public Works, Minor Science, Milton Keynes Art Centre, The Portland Inn Project, The Pizza, The SHOWROOM, Swipe, University of Sheffield, University of the Arts London, Wholemeal Music, Yam Records.
Notable projects begin with the forming of [2008] Efdeay; a righteous illustration tribe bent on shaking up a careful and prude creative crowd. [2008] Wholemeal; a club night turned record label. [2010] Camberwell Press; part of the re-founding group to form the in-house design and research studio at Camberwell College of Art as part of alumni scheme. [2012] Assembly group, when a class of guardians moved into an abandoned primary school in South London they quickly realised the potential of the space that had been locked up. Forming a working group and beginning weekly open garden sessions in the the group created a huge amount of projects at the site for what went on for nearly 5 years. [2013] Serve & Return, founding a public and free ping pong parlour made with recycled material tables, handmade refreshments and a killer typeface. [2014] Founded, produced and designed Registration Summer School along with Callum Copley, Myles Palmer, and Andrew Thorpe. [2017] Not A Sausage; edible practice of Ross and Hannah, using vegetables as tools for connecting with people, ceremony, seasons and ultimately nature. [2020] Social Pickle a public fermentation and preserving club working from Foodhall in Sheffield.
